JANUARY SCRAP RETREAT!

Yes, it's that time of the year to be thinking of scrapping.....in January, at the Linden Tree Inn in Rockport, MA. We still have a few spaces left for our retreat, and we would love to have you join us! January dates don't work for you? Call to book your own!!!

Here are the details:

SCRAPBOOKING IS FINE IN 2009!!!! Plan a trip to the Linden Tree Inn in Rockport MA and join in on our 4th Annual Crop-Port in Rockport!! As I am every year, I am excited about the scrap retreat here at the Linden Tree Inn! We had so much fun the last three years, I can't wait to see what this year will bring! Come and scrap all those Holiday pictures uninterrupted with no kids, no needless phone interruptions, and no need to worry about the cooking and cleaning! We try to promote a relaxed, fun, scrapping atmosphere, with lots of good food, friendship and a fab scrapping goodie basket to take home. And don't forget all the scones you can eat for breakfast!!!! Arrangements can be made with area spa services for massages, pedicures or manicures. Let us know when you make your reservation if that is something you would be interested in.

Last year worked out very well with added days to scrap longer, so I am going to offer the option again, starting on January 8th, going through to the 20th. Come for any two or more days that fit your schedule. We still have good availability left for January 8th-14th, and limited availability from the 15th-21. You will have your own scrap space to set up for the whole time you are here with 24 hour access, use of a Sizzix die cutter with at least 10 alphabet sets, and over 100 dies and embossing dies, punches, rubber stamps, and a variety of other tools. The cost for 2 nights is $255, which includes tax, meals, drinks, snacks, your own guest room with private bath, and an awesome goodie basket. Special pricing for extended stays or for adding an extra day or two to your 2 night reservation! Because of our affordable pricing, we do not discount for shared rooms, nor do we assign shared rooms, every scrapper has their own guest room with private bath. We require a 50% non-refundable deposit to hold your place, with the balance due on arrival. On receipt of deposit, you will be sent a questionnaire to fill out regarding any food allergies and preferences for drinks and snacks. If you would like to register email us at lindentreeinn@gmail.com or give us a call at 1-800-865-2122 or 1-978-546-2494.

When you are faced with all those holiday photos that are just begging to be scrapped, make you reservation to come and "Crop-Port in Rockport" this January!!! Bring along a friend or two, or maybe a family member....make it a girl's weekend crop! So take some time for yourself, and make it a getaway to the Linden Tree Inn Scrap Retreat!

If January dates don’t work for you and your friends, why not call and schedule your own Girls Scrap-Port In Rockport? There are still some weekends in March and April available. We are also booking November 2009 now too. We would be happy to set up a time for you and your family or friends, and will schedule a dedicated weekend for groups of 5-8.

BABU THE BABOON VISITS THE LINDEN TREE INN

This past week, I had Babu the baboon (puppet..) visiting the inn with his puppeteer "Mom" Joan...Babu really enjoyed his stay, but at times, got himself into a little mischief .as young baboons are want to do. Of course, the scrapbooker in me couldn't help but "catch" him as he performed his naughty acts, and the photos just begged to be made into an altered book....so, here it is, from start to finish....and the book got to go home with Joan, so that Babu could remember his vacation adventures.......  :)

A*MUSEA*PALOOZA TWINKLE TIME WITH TAYLOR!

The Mystery Hostess Challenge for this week is Taylor, 2nd place winner of last years A*Musea*Palooza.  Her challenge was to bring on the bling!! This is Seattle Girl out in the rain! It is really much more sparkly IRL! I used Spica markers to color her in, glitter around the scalloped rectangle edge, and on all the raindrops, anad I used  (appropriately enough) A Muse Twinkle Stickers on some of the raindrops as well. Thanks for looking!

LOOKING FOR MY SCRAPPING MOJO....

Have you seen it?? Been pretty busy getting everything set for the inn, that I seem to have misplaced my scrapping mojo....I have been very busy organizing my scrap space, getting all my supplies organized and in some semblance of order, which in turn I am hoping will make me more enthusiastic about going to the basement to scrap! I have been able to turn out a few cards here and there, hope you enjoy them....and thanks for stopping by and checking them out!

The first one is for the A MUSE AMUSAPALOOZA Weekly Challenge....the rest are ones I have made for an anniversary or birthday....or just because!

MORE CARDS!

For my April A Muse swap I made this card, it was to tell a little something about yourself. I just love that first cup of tea in the morning!!!

This was the card I made for my April A Muse bumper card. It's Elzybell thinking " Good friends never go out of style!" I angled the black pretty little paper out to be like an awning over Elzybell's window.

Thanks for looking!

ME, ORGANIZING????? YES IT'S TRUE!!

Well, it's a bit of a stretch for those of you that know me, but I have been taking some time to organize my scrappy supplies....this week I took on my dozens of little dollar bin clear stamp sets that I got at Michael's and AC Moore. I had at least put them all in one bin, but I would have to dig through them to find what I wanted, and would give up when I couldn't find what I wanted right away......well, as part of another project, (ripping all my CDs into iTunes on my new MacBook Pro, I am discarding all the plastic cases and putting all the liner notes and cds into a CD case, to cut down on how much space they take up.) So I have all these plastic cases going to the dump, so I decided to repurpose them into clear stamp holders. I put all the little sets into the CD cases, and organized them all by theme. When I realized I would no longer need my wood CD organizer for CDs,  I labeled the spines of my new CD stamp holders, and slid them in, another great repurpose! And now I can find any stamp easily!
The wood Cd organizer repurposed to hold my stamp sets, along with the bin they had all been in, and a few other sets of clear stamps that didn't go with the others.

This is how the cd/stamp holders are all labeled for easy searching.

This is how I have them all stored, in the repurposed cd organizer! The pink bin is where they were all in a jumbled mess. Now the ones that don't go with these sets are also in their own cd case holders, ready for me to figure out another place for them....heck, maybe just on top of the organizer...

ETERNALLY {FROZEN} IN MY MEMORY

Everytime I look at this photo it brings me back to the day it was taken, and how significant an event it captured...the photo is lousy, fuzzy....but for me I will remember the anxiety and waiting, but by the end of the afternoon, the complete and utter joy!

Check out my Slide Show!

Well, I finally put it together, this slide show is a collection of all the layouts and cards and projects I made during the Crop Till You Drop over at 4 Scrappy Sisters. It was a fun and crazy week of scrapping and stamping challenges, and still can't believe I got 20 layouts done and 12 cards, one gift bag and I started a paperbag book that just needs embellishing...wahoo, that is more than I think I have gotten done in the last year!! Most all the stamps on the cards are a muse, I so love them, how could I use anything else?? Some are better than others, as some might have been made in the wee hours of the morning when I really should have taken the time to stamp the image on white and cut it out..hind sight is 20/20, and I can always go back and fix them easily enough..but here they all are in their raw form!

Thanks for looking everyone!

ANOTHER CARD..IT'S ELZYBELL!

I loved this stamp and had to have it...isn't she so cute!!

I just so love making window cards.....this time I used glitter around the scallops..I colored her in with Faber-Castell watercolor pencils, I used black Spica pen for her shoes, and gold Spica for the frogs crown...I stamped her dress on a Pretty Little Paper (green reverse polka dot cottage collection) then cut it out...not an original idea, I saw someone else do this with Elzybell, and I can't remember just who now.....but it is such a cute idea! I stamped the grass on wome white textured CS and colored it in, cut it out and used some foam dots to elevate it and give it some depth....an a muse sheer ribbon completes the look I think! I think the scan is a little washed out....I wasn't paing attention I guess when I scanned it....and too late now, it's in the mail!

A MUSE CHALLENGE #26

This weeks challenge was pocket cards.....I have been thinking about it most of the week....I so love my new Rocket and To the Moon stamps, as well as the Spots one too! So I had this wonderful epiphany this morning......why not make the rocket shoot up the card?? I had so much fun constructing this card!! Hope you like it....I am going to give it to my Sweetheart!!

Here is the card with the moon near the Earth....

And now here it is with the rocket up to the moon!
Here's a little tutorial on how I made my card....it's the first tutorial I have written, I hope it is logical and understandable!! I would appreciate any feedback on how easy it is to follow. I selected a coffee colored a muse 4 bar card as my "pocket, and some light blue marbelized CS for the tag and the oval. I also used a small piece of blue vellum and transparent vellum
I did a little cut out at the bottom left of the card, stamped the spot stamp on some blue vellum with Brown StazOn ink, and adhered it to the back of the card with double sided tape.  I stamped the spots on transparent vellum with blue Versamark ink.  I then punched a circle out of light blue marbled CS for the tag for the pocket, and adhered it behind the opening.  I punched the oval out of the same light blue marbleized CS. I stamped the Love you to the Moon saying in the upper right portion of the card. The rocket was stamped on white CS, and colored in with black Spica pen and a blue Gel Writerz pen. I cut the circle out of the rocket, and pasted a picture of me in the window. I cut the rocket out, and then I attached it to the marbelized blue oval, and drew in the rocket smoke on the blue marbelized CS with the glitter pens.  For the slide function, I determined where I wanted the rocket to travel up the card and marked it, then I cut a slit in the front of the 4 bar card along the line I marked, I widened it to allow my brad to slide up and down easily without it being too wide so the brad would wobble in the tract. I put a brad through the oval under the tail of the rocket so that it doesn't show, then I slipped it through the slit in the front of the card, then punched a small hole in the tag and put the brad through the tag and secured it. You now have a tag/card/oval sandwich. The oval should slide up and down easy through the slit,  I then attached the ribbon at the top of the tag with a small white brad. I took a small piece of double sided foam tape and attached it to the inside of the picket right below the bottom of the tag in the "down" position. This makes the tag have a little more room to move in the pocket.  Then I taped the sides of the card with double sided tape, making sure that the tag had clearance to slide in and out comfortabley. I ten used stickels ice blue glitter on my "spot" Earth, and some copper glitter along the bottom of the card for a little extra sparkle.  One thing I did before using my a muse notecard and good CS was I did a mock up of the card in white CS to determine placement of the brad, the slit and size of he tag needed. This helped make the final construction a little smoother.

A MUSE CHALLENGE #25

Another challenge, this week was for window cards (silly me, I made one last week for one of my Hip to Be Square cards for challenge # 24, not realizing I would be doing them for this week!!)

Love You To The Moon and Back
I cut the window, outlined it with my Black Spica pen (yes, I LOVE these pens!!) then I mounted a vellum with glitter in it behind, stamped the rocket on the inside of the card, colored it in with my spicas .....then I took a different vellum, and stmaped the spotted square in brown colorbox chalk, and cut it out with a circle punch. Stamped the Love You to the Moon and Back on the front of the card...I used a DCWV card that I cut down....

Love Blooms
I stamped Love Blooms on a printed vellum, (American Crafts Blossom) and cut it out with the giga Marvy Scalloped circle, then mounted it on a mega circle punched out of a pink a muse card. I drew in the stem and leaves. I cut a little window with a circle punch, and stamped the 3 little flowers from an a muse acrylic set. I traced around the edge of the window with a pink Spica pen....and drew in the stems and leaves. Inside I also cut out 2 scallop squares (mega size) out of pink polka dot pp and stamped the 3 flowers in the upper left and lower right corners...mounted one in the upper left of the inside, adn one in the lower right of the inside...I really should ahve scanned the inside in...maybe I will add it tomorrow....

Thanks for looking!
