A MUSE ADDICTS CHALLENGE #19

Well, this weeks challenge is "it's a Guy Thing" And I thought, man, is this hard (no pun intended....really!) But then it hit me.....my last name since I got married is Shepherd....and I frequently go around singing Christmas songs that have shepherds in them, and well, sometimes I just like to change the words to them too.....so, my current favorite song to sing, especially when doing laundry is "As Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night...." changing the words to "As Shepherds Washed Their Socks By Night"

And here is my artistic rendering of it:

Thanks for Looking!!

MORE A MUSE CHALLENGES, #18

This weeks challenge was to make some Christmas thank you cards....here are 3 quickies I made this week!

The first one uses the Snowflake Mittens stamp, and the Thank You from the Personal Stationary Set

For this Thank You I used the Embellish Tree, stamped in gold, then I used my glue pen to outline the tree and covered it with glitter! The Thank You stamp is from the Tag Time set, again, stamped in gold, then outlined with the glue pen and glittered!

This Thank you uses the Holiday Drinks Stamp, and the Tag Time Thank You. I colored teh drinks in using my Gelwritersx glitter pens, and also added some glitter acccents on the top of one of the drinks, and around the outside of the white circle.

4 SS NOVEMBER SKETCH CHALLENGE YOU MIGHT BE AN A MUSE ADDICT....

Well, for this months sketch challenge, I decided to scrap my love of a muse stamps! What's more fun than stamping with a muse? Scrapping about it!! Thanks for looking!

The Journaling reads:
A. a muse stamps cover your desk
B. Marvy Giga scallop punches
C. Abundance of a muse paper products
D. Glitter everywhere
E. Photo taken of you at a muse card class by Jenn Shurkus because you are covered with glitter
F. You may be an a muse addict especially if you scrap about it (the last line of that was cut of in the scan!)

YUP, ANOTHER A MUSE PROJECT!

Yes, I have yet another A Muse project.....just get used to it, I am so in love with these stamps!!! They may even make a debut on some LOs!! Stay tuned to my blog!

But isn't this cute? I made napkin rings using the A Muse Holiday drinks stamp.....Thanks for looking!! I stamped the image on a scalloped square ( the blue Marvey one, Mega?) and colored it in with my watercolor Faber-Castell colored pencils and used my Agua Pen to blend them. Then I applied glitter to the rims of the glasses, and to the scalloped edges. Next I cut a another square slightly larger than the scalloped square, and mounted the completed image on it with a foam dot. I then took the cardboard core from a roll of paper towels, and cut a ring 1 1/2 inches. Covered it with a strip of coordintaing scrapbook paper, and mounted the completed motif on the seam where the paper meets with a pop up Glue Dot! Voila!! You could even put the guest names on it for a combination napkin ring/placecard! You could also put some mod podge or glossy accents on the stamped scallop pice to give it a glossy look! Have fun, and thanks for looking!
An aerial view so you can get an idea of how they look on the rings....I will try for a better photo later!

OK, I am adding in my other project, it's an a muse garland. I cut scalloped circles and ovals out of solid red and green CS, then I stamped them with different a muse Christmas images, colored them in and glittered them. Inbetween I used my Sizzix die cut christmas light, ornament and christmas tree. I cut them out of solids and PP, and I stuck two together, and glittered some of them. I hung them from a fake holly rope with gold ribbon. I will post the whole garland, and then a couple close ups of the a muse stamps.

Thanks for looking!

Having Fun With My Scrappy Friend!

My online friend Terri came to visit with her Mom and son! They had a blast sightseeing and checking out all the fall foliage. But they had to leave today....I really enjoyed having her here, and meeting her family. It's only been an hour or so and I miss her already! We had so much fun chatting and talking about scrapping, and even did a little scrappy shopping at Absolutely Everything! I got some cool new stamps and the second Clean and Simple Scrapbooking book by Cathy Zielske. I loved her first one!

Here's a picture of Terri, Pat and I....can't wait till we are altogether again!

And here is a picture of Terri and Me:

It's October, Where did the Summer go???

WOW is all I can say!!! Where has the time gone, last I knew it was the start of the summer, and now here we are smack in the middle of Fall! It has been so busy at the Inn I haven't had any time at all to sit down and spend time at the computer to post to my blogs. I have been able to find a wee bit of time to squeeze a little scrapping in..and will post some of my more recent LOs for you.

I have been busy planning the January Scrap Retreat and will make another post with all the information you will need to plan your getaway to scrap at my "Crop-Port" in Rockport at the Linden Tree Inn. We have had a great time the past 2 years, and I am really looking forward to hosting it for another year.

What projects have you all been working on? I hope to start making my Christmas present LOs soon, as I always end up leaving them till the last minute! I'm always looking for great present ideas, so feel free to post me some project ideas in your comments.

Here are a couple of my recent LOs....hope you enjoy them!

This LO is of our 6th wedding anniversary that I did this summer...I decided I needed to scrap the 6th anniversary before we celebrated our 7th this September. I really like the way it came out!

My night bloooming cereus bloomed in September, the second time this summer, I was very excited and was able to get a lot of really fabulous photos of it while it was blooming. I decided to make a LO with some of my favorite pictures of the inside of the flower. The paper is all Arctic Frog, from my October 4 Scrappy Sisters Kit!

Thanks for checking out my blog! Happy scrapping everyone!

IT'S THE 4th!!!

Wow, can you believe it is the 4th of July? We will have a busy day planned, with lots of good photo opps I hope! Breakfast for the guests, then sometime during breakfast, I will drive the truck down to the bottom of the street to park for the parade....love having a seat waiting for me!! LOL! Then in the afternoon we will have a cook out for all our guests that don't go to visit friends or family. Parade at 6pm, Bonfire at about 9pm, it will be a full day!

I've been Tagged!!! WOW! OK, so here's the scoop... you have to post 7 random things about yourself on your blog and then tag 7 others to play. The 7 people I tag do the same thing and so and so forth...so, here goes:

7 Random Things About Me:

1. I make a really fabulous Chicken Chow Mein that is better than take out!
2. When I find a pair of shorts/pants I like, I buy about a half a dozen of them!
3. I love to fold sheets and set the table, it's like a meditative retreat
4. My favorite thing to drink is root beer
5. I wear my sneakers out in 3 months
6.I like a cup of green tea in the afternoon
7. I love to photograph sunsets

Now for the 7 to tag....guess I am so tired I will have to add this in the morning!

IT'S SUMMER

At least, that is what the calender says, so how come we all have on long sleeves, and the A/C is off? Today was an assortment of weather, sun, clouds, sprinkles, downpours, thunder and lightening!

Still working on moving my paper to the basement, yeah, I know, I think I have way too much, so how come I keep seeing all this paper I want/ I have to have, I have been very good and not bought any paper in the last month or two! I need to keep scrapping and use what I have, so I can justify buying more! The space is shaping up a bit...I have all these wire racks for storing paper that I got at AC Moore at a great price, combined with a 40% off coupon, I only paid $12!! I have 2 for 8 1/2 X 11, and 2 for 12 X 12. They are really super! After I have this one particular pile of paper down, then I am going to start setting up my new wire shelving, and start to get my fabric cubes organized. I am trying to decide what to do with my ribbon, it is all in a jumble in a fabric bin, and I need to dig to find what I want.....I'm thinking large glass jars for the loose ribbons, but still not sure what to do with the ribbon on reels.

All this moving of supplies, has got me really itching for a good scrappy session....I have some photos I particularly would like to scrap, so maybe I can just stop thinking about it and just get down to business!

JUNE?? TIME SURE DOES FLY!!

Where did May go???? Here it is June already! I got a few pages done in May, so that was good! I hope to keep going with my scrap room to the basement....I am in the process of moving all my paper down there....I now have all my kits in wire cubes more or less organized, so I can just take one off the shelf and play with it. Once I have the paper all sorted and organized, then I think I am going to work on the embellishments, ribbons and fibers. I know that just getting organized is going to make me much more productive! If anyone has tips on how to sort their papers, I certainly would love the feedback!

4 SCrappy Sisters just underwent a face lift, and the new logo and the gallery look great! We had a "Going Down" challenge, and I did this LO for it! I like the way it came out....thanks for the challenge 4SS!! The photo was taken quite a few years ago....it is one of my favorites of my Mother and Godsister...why not sort through your photos and find one of your older favorite pictures of your family that hasn't made it into a frame, a scrapbook or photo album and scrap it this month? That way you can enjoy looking at it instead of wondering where it went.

Hope that where ever you are this finds you enjoying some fine weather and the feeling you would get as a child towards the end of school anticipating the summer stretching out before you!

IT'S MAY!!

I love May!! The flowers are blooming, spring is here, and the air is warming up. The smell of the sea air here in Rockport is heavenly...if only the pollen would blow away so I could smell it!

I have been busy with the inn, wrapping up the retreats before the season starts with the last 3 retreats of the season. This year the retreats went very well, and we met a lot of new people that we hope will make The Linden Tree an annual home for their groups! Took plenty of pictures to scrap, so maybe you will be seeing some of them on my LOs in the future here.

My Heart Full of Memories site was winding down, so we were interested in possibly finding a new home, we found a new site that was just getting started, and they welcomed us all with open arms! So now I hang out there too. The new site is 4 Scrappy Sisters, http://4scrappysisters.informe.com/index.php and they are a lot of fun, check their website out, they have lots of really great stuff in the store and a lively Discussion Board. If you want to sign up and jump on in chatting with us, say Hi to everyone in the Welcome thread, and mention that I sent you.....they are having a contest to get to their 30th member, there are several challenges going on, so check them out! They are also having a fundraiser for the American Heart Foundation. The sisters had some acrylic stamps designed that are really nice, and the proceeds go for a good cause!

Oh, and guess what??? I am the featured scrapper over at 4 Scrappy Sisters: http://4scrappysisters.informe.com/viewtopic.php?p=1750#1750 Check me out!! They will be posting a new layout each day....and thanks for looking!

I hope to get some scrapping done, it seems lately all I have been able to accomplish is making some cards. I am in the process of moving all the scrap stuff to the basement, so half is upstairs, and half is downstairs, and I spend a lot of time going up and down the stairs, and with interuptions and all I get sidetracked easily. I bought some wire shelving to set up, so I will get those up soon and it should get things much better organized. And yes, I will take pictures!!

Well, catch you all a little later!! Check back soon, I hope to get some more LOs posted up!

I MADE IT!!!

Well, I made it to the end of the 8 week Summer Springboard contest over at Creating Pages. Some weeks were easier than others to complete the challenge, but I had fun scrapping some photos that would otherwise still be in the proverbial "box" of the hard drive on my computer.

The move from the back messy room to the basement scrap area continues, as I organize and delineate storage spots for all my scrap stuff. I am really liking having a table all set up, with my tools all out that can be left till next time, and no one is complaining about the mess or how much room it is all taking up!! LOL! Right now the Easter stamps are all spread out on the table, waiting for the Easter card inspiration to hit!!! I need to to 11 table decoration place cards by Sunday, so I need to get that scrapping mojo into high gear.

Yesterday my friend Pat and I went to Absolutely Everything, my LSS. We drove through a freak April blizzard to get there, when the urge to shop for scrap goodies hits, we don't let anything get in the way, specially a little snow!! Threw the truck into 4 wheel drive and took off!! I got some cute big polka dot Prima flowers in spring colors, think that I will use them on the place cards....but we'll see. Also some 7Gypsies stuff....and a great new book on making Mini Books. Have to post a review once I have a chance to check it out totally. I love little books, and I am hoping it helps me branch out from paper bag books and accordion pocket books with tags...although both very cute and versatile, want to try and broaden my bookmaking repertoire. And I also got a couple cute little A Muse rubber stamps, love those little guys!!! they are so cute, and make adorable cards or embellishments for smaller SB pages!

I'll be posting some of my newer LOs a little later...check back!!!

MY LATEST LAYOUT

Well, here it is, my latest layout. I did this one for the Creating Pages Springboard to Summer Challenge, week 5, the theme was "What's Cooking" and the LO had to be inspired by something in your kitchen. Well, I had so many ideas for this LO, it was hard narrowing them all down, but since I had just visited King Arthur Flour in VT, I just had to do this LO! The tag in the little shopping bag pulls out and talks about my trip to VT, and our visit to King Arthur (just read the previous post, and it will tell you all about it) and from my previous posting, you could probably guess why I picked "Who Knew" for the title. I guess my big inspiration was of course, my flour canister, pictured, but I also used a lot of silver eyelet brads, and the inspiration for those were my colanders. Thanks for looking, and feel free to leave my comments, I would love to know what you think about it!

MY TRIP TO VERMONT TODAY

My Mom and I went to visit my Aunt and Cousin in Vermont today. It was about a 2 hour trip from my mother's house. Route 89 is absolutely gorgeous, with scenic vistas all the way up...unfortunately I was driving and didn't get any pictures...I did get some pictures of my Cousin and Aunt...and the big bonus for me was my Cousin took me to The King Arthur Flour store.....it was only 2.5 miles from my Aunt's, how could I pass that up, all I use is King Arthur flour in my scones (yes, the legendary ones...) I was pretty excited, and I did take my camera with me....my Cousin took my picture sitting in the King Arthur Throne!! I was like a kid in a candy store really! I bought flour (Queen Gueneviere cake flour), some baking mixes, some really great citron extract, a new oven mit, and some of the best french bread DH and I have ever eaten!! It may have been my first trip there, but it will definately not be my last!!! My Aunt let me have one of their old pictures of my Grandfather with my Uncle Joe * to scan it....I am hoping that my cousin will come down to visit me here and bring the all the old photos so I can get copies of some of them, of my mother and her sisters and cousins when she was young, maybe when she was in her 20s? They are photos from the 1930s and 40s....amazing!! My uncle (*who is really my first cousin once removed, and the cousin that I visited with is really my second cousin, all on my mother's maternal side of the family....for those of you who are genealogy buffs) well, he took tons of pictures, and put them all in albums.....none of them in any order, but they are pasted into albums, labeled! Wonder if he would ever have become a modern day scrapbooker with all the fancy doodads and die cuts and PP and CS....one never knows, unfortunately he passed on way before the modern day scrapping craze hit! Will post pictures of my trip when I get them downloaded off the camera!

This is a Layout that I did 2 weeks ago for the Springboard to Summer Challenge Series going on at Creating Pages, for the Week 2 Challenge. The challenge was to use paint on your LO, and it had to be 50% or more of the LO. I decided to watercolor wash the background, so I took some white textured cardstock and used my watercolors to create a sunset background. I took these photos out the sunroom door one late afternoon while chatting on the phone with my DH John as he was driving home from work. I mounted the photos on black cardstock, and used a tree punch to make the tree branches. I punched out black cardstock trees, and then cut them in pieces and adhered them to the LO. The letters were from a diecut letter stack that I got at AC Moore, I didn't really like the font that they were, so I cut the edges to be more what I wanted...the "S" on Sun was put on with foam squares to make it pop out, as is the bottom photo.
Check out some of the other great work the ladies and I are doing for the series at CP, the link to CP is in my favorite links... or http://creatingpages.biz/gallery to take you right to the gallery. My online screen name is: Tobey. How original!! LOL!
Check back for this weeks LO coming soon in another post!
